Chipton-Ross is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a contract opportunity in Manassas, VA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on high-volume, low-mix manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience with machine design, equipment installation, and material handling
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and optimize manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling
- Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout
- Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment, and other functions that affect product performance
- Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
- Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
- Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
- Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques
- Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement, and implement robotic automation solutions as needed
- Program and integrate industrial robots (such as Fanuc and Epson) with existing manufacturing systems, utilizing PLC programming expertise
- Optimize and maintain automated production lines to ensure maximum uptime and throughput, while maintaining high-quality standards
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with robotics and automation, including programming and integration of industrial robots
- PLC programming expertise
- Knowledge of statistical process control and lean manufacturing principles
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
WORK HOURS:
- Full-Time
- 4/10 or 5/40 work schedule ( depends on need)
